Guwahati airport, which is also referred to as Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) named after Gopinath Bordoloi, who was a freedom fighter and also the first Chief Minister of Assam after independence, is located at Borjhar, around 29 km from the city of Guwahati, Assam. Guwahati airport is the major hub for flights to Northeastern states of India, with a capacity of handling more than 25 lakh passengers per year. Being the birth place of Kamdev, the God of Love, there is a magical aura that still lingers over the ever expending city. It has diverse traditions of different ethnic and religious communities.
